Yarn Along

I'm joining Small Things' Yarn Along today. (I've been blog stalking over there for a month or so...love it!)
Soakers for Fi are on the needles yet again. Are you shocked? Yeah. Me neither. She's beginning to outgrow all the medium sizes, so here we go with knitting larges. I'm using the Frantic Mama Soaker pattern. It's still my favorite and very easy to customize. I've begun to change it up a bit so it doesn't get too dreadfully boring. When I'm done with these, I have some lovely purple wool waiting in the wings and some bigger revisions I want to make. Eeek. We'll see.
As far as reading, I'm pretty far into Attached at the Heart. Until now I've been winging it on the whole attachment parenting thing. I've read articles and blog posts on the subject, but (Gasp!) very few books. This is a good basic primer with many great resources. It has me excited about some other books on my "to be read" list.
"Stand Back," Said the Elephant, "I'm Going to Sneeze!" has been Levi's most requested book this week.  The kid's got good taste for sure. :) It's a fun read and the illustrations are beautiful and funny.

So are you reading and/or knitting anything wonderful this week?

  1. I've been reading "The Power of a Positive Mom". It's a good read. Sometimes inspiring but sometimes convicting. I'm reading it in bits and pieces. Also reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Amazing!!

  5. Thanks for your comment on my blog, it was really encouraging me to hurry up and finish the squash baby hat because it will be liked and worn. I added the 2 books you mentioned to my wish list on Amazon. We are foster/adoptive parents and attended some intensive training on attachment disorder, etc. I was really shocked to find out that the brains of children with attachment disorder are different than other children. They are "over built" in the part that reads faces and "under built" in the part that problem solves, causing them to have lower IQs over time. The good news was finding out that it can be corrected over time, if they overcome attachment disorder in a loving home.

  6. Wow! You have actually completed knitted things? How is that possible? I don't think I've picked up anything sewing or knitting in months. (Of course, I've been doing all that Montessori stuff...so I hope that counts). But, I have been reading a lot.

Anyway, I can't wait to find that book at the library. I think Ronan will love it. One of our favorites (with animals) is Wild About Books. Written in the style of Seuss - funny for the parents and the kids like the rhyming. :)
