Weekend Loves

Bug Eggs

We went to my parents' house Saturday and spied the above odd little bug eggs.  We're a strange bunch.  We like that kind of stuff.  :)

As far as internety things here's what I'm liking...

: : Have y'all seen this Creativity Boot Camp?  I've noticed a few bloggers signing up.  I'm a little envious, but totally hesitant to join in.  My creativity, time, and energy are pretty much zapped between being pregnant, chasing a toddler, and renovating.  I'll definitely be watching from the sidelines, though.

: : This plastic out of milk experiment has me curious.  It doesn't end with the prettiest of results, but how fun would this be with older kiddos?

: : Would you ever try going shampoo free?  I made the leap, and I'm actually liking it...a lot.  Someday, maybe I'll get really adventurous and try this.

: : I've discovered two very yummy recipes.  This soup was a hit with me.  I think Levi would like it if he would try it.  And, this healthy chocolate dip (no, that wasn't a typo...it really is healthy) is so yummy.  It was a hit with the whole family!

: : Last but not least, Leigh recently posted a list she found here.   It's titled "What is the Role of the Unschooling Parent?", but I think it applies to all parents and could thus be renamed "What is the Role of a Parent?".  It's good stuff!

So, what are you loving this weekend?

  1. Those little bugs are spittle bugs! They love our rosemary and lavender plants!

They don't harm the plants but they fill them up and actually get a little annoying after awhile ( :

Shampoo free...I have to check that out. I do that with Audrey a lot, just a tiny drop for her whole bath, Jeremiah on the other hand he usually needs a lot after a game ( :

I have to check out all your links!!! Have a good weekend!

  2. Thank you! I'm glad to know what they are called. Spittle bugs sounds like a fitting name for them, too.

  3. LOVED that list! It's definitely NOT just for unschooling. Any parent or grandparent could use that list for ANY educational situation--homeschool, after school, unschool, you name it!!

  4. That soup looks so yummy!
I was wondering if you'd be participating in the Boot Camp, but can totally understand why not. Thanks for spreading the word :)

  6. Madeline, this is why I've missed being on the computer. You're very inspiring.
    1. I think I'm going to go shampoo free. I wanted to do it last year, but I got cold feet and have been buying the expensive SLS free stuff. Meanwhile, I have a garden overflowing with herbs I dont know what to do with... perfect! Also, if you make your own deodorant, I'll do it too? Can't be any less effective than the useless Toms I use.
    2. Yummm on both recipes.
    3. That list. Holy cow. I needed that reminder tonight.
    4. Your family (immediate and extended) are so beautiful. What a lovely life.

  7. I use shampoo about once every 4 days, but I use conditioner daily. I find that shampoo strips my hair of moisture, but conditioner helps to keep the frizz at bay. :)
