At The Fair

Somehow we always end up going to the fair on Columbus Day, and I always say "What's up with all the kids here on a weekday?" And, then I realize that it's a holiday. Our plans to go when no one else is there are thwarted by my own calendar-challenged brain.

We had fun none the less.

The weather was perfect which always helps. Don't you think?

These guys were insane. I think they forgot to practice their act. After I took this picture one of them got on the outside of these spinning wheels, stumbled around and fell....and not in a comical, intentional way. He was able to grab onto the wheel, so thankfully my children did not have to watch him injure himself or worse. They didn't even blink over it. Apparently the under 5 crowd don't really catch on to such things.

This gal slept through the entire fair. Yay for slings with natural wind/sun shields.

This was the first year that we've shown up in time for the pig races. Super fun.

And especially hilarious when the fat pigs "raced".

These two should have won a ribbon for cutest pig race spectators ever...

Speaking of ribbons...my mom totally won a blue one for Fia's baptism dress...

Of course, we had to make a stop at the petting zoo.

The pig races weren't the only first for us. Levi rode rides this time too.

That seems like not a big deal, but it is over here. I held my breath and prayed. He did awesome. I think it's time I held my breath a little less over this boy. He's the one 'driving' the yellow truck, by the way. You can't see it, but he had a huge grin plastered on his face.

Sophia was enthralled by all of the color and lights and crowds. She walked around grinning the entire time. She wouldn't even think about riding in the stroller. I'm currently kicking myself for not taking a photo of that sweet smile, but I was too busy trying not to lose her in the crowds.

  1. Yay Grandma!

Best of luck with the non-breath-holding.

If it's any consolation, I am not only calendar-challenged, but when the clocks go back (or forward) one hour, I'm at sixes and sevens for a week.
