A Bit of Quiet
There may be a bit of quiet in this space for the next few days. I've been avoiding thinking about the inevitable for months now. The problem with the inevitable is that it comes about sooner or later. Ugh. On Tuesday, Levi leaves to spend 2 whole, entirely too long weeks with his dad. It's taking all of the energy I can muster to stay calm and enjoy my days with him. We'll have a repeat of this the last two weeks of July. I am not looking forward to either of these times for countless reasons. I hope Levi takes this better than I will. Any tips on explaining to a two year old that he'll be gone for two weeks and that mommy did not abandon him?

I cannot imagine how difficult that must be. I have no advice, but I do send big hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh Madeline. I'll pray for you both. He knows how much you love him. Xoxo

ReplyDeleteIs skyping with him every day so that he can see you an option? Maybe sending him stuff in the mail (photos, small mementos)?
A few pieces of advice would be give him a shirt of yours you wore a lot, so it smells like you. He can sleep with it. Give him a clear calender so he can mark off the days until he comes home, so it helps him understand time. A picture of you.
ReplyDeleteRemind him you are always in his heart and if he shuts his eyes and breathes deeply he can feel you.
I love Maggie May's comment. Taking something that reminds him of you sounds great.
ReplyDeleteSending good thoughts your way. Enjoy these next couple of days with him and tell him you love him and kiss him often.
Two weeks goes by much faster than it sounds. Take some time for you, to rest, and be brand new when he comes back to you.
I'm going to miss him too - I can't even imagine your heartache.
ReplyDeleteI love all the suggestions - I know you guys will get through it, and the reunion will be SUPER sweet.
*hugs* Thinking about you!
Yikes...that would be tough to explain - I'm not even sure how I'd go about explaining that to my almost 4 year old...never mind a 2 year old. :( I pray that all goes amazingly well for you and Levi!
ReplyDeleteHugs.

Oh dear, I will be praying for you guys. I don't have any great advice, though it sounds like others had some good ideas.

Sew, staple, glue, whatever it takes pictures of you/you and him to his luggage so he can 'see' you everyday.
ReplyDeletePrayers for additional wisdom. My best friend has to tackle this with her 7 yr old son too.
Aw! Are you able to call him on the phone while he is away? Or does that make things worse?
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, Madeline. My heart aches for you.
