Weekend Loves

Links I'm loving right now...

: : In case you haven't gotten the memo, St. Patrick's day is tomorrow. I've been lazy on the celebratory front, so there's not a lick of green decor in our house right now. I had planned on making a garland out of these, but now I'm thinking we'll just have green smoothies and call it a day.

: : I am nuts over this chickpea salad. It's simple and so delicious.

: : This tabletop redo is inspiring me. I'm eying my fabric cutting table as I type. Hmmm....

: : We met some friends at the art museum today and spotted these bath toysin the museum store. They don't have holes for water to get trapped in...a mama's dream come true. They'll be hitting the kids' Easter baskets this April.

: : I'm really liking this sweet baby quilt. Maybe for this new little one? Guess I should finish Sophia's quilt first!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Weekend Y'all!

Weekend Loves

Hi there, Friday.
I think time sped up when I hit the halfway mark in this pregnancy. It seems like I turn around and yet another week is gone. I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow! Cannot believe it. Well, enough about that. Onto the links...

: : Loads of kiddo science experiments.

: : Natural Easter egg dying. This year I will do this!

: : Sweet knit bunnies...here and here. If you're more into buying than knitting...here and here.

: : Whipped up a batch of coconut oil moisturizer last night. Love it! Also, it was great entertainment for the munchkins.

Happy Weekend, Y'all!

Weekend Loves

Well, Hello, Friday! I've spent the day reorganizing closets. Since getting pregnant I have overhauled every closet in our house. Some women have that last minute nesting urge, mine starts from month one and just keeps going and going and going. In fact, I wouldn't be too shocked if the closets all received another overhaul between now and June. Oh, my. If only I had this kind of drive while not pregnant!

Alrighty then, on to the links...

: : Stephan has convinced me to delve into the world of sock knitting. He says his feet get cold at night, and he really needs a pair of hand knit socks. So, I bought this bookand some lovely, super soft yarn. Deep breath.

: : Suddenly I'm looking forward to summer...and blackberries.

: : I've already picked out the kids' Easter presents. A Knitting Mushroom for Levi who is forever asking me to teach him to knit (any advice on this endeavor would be greatly appreciated) and a child's Bolga basket for Sophia who is forever trying to steal mine...with my knitting still in it.

: : I've had baby on the brain lately. This is calling to me to knit it (even though I don't like knitting blankets), and thisto buy it (loved the one I had when Sophia was tiny) , and this to sew it (despite still not having finished Sophia's quilt).

Hope y'all had a lovely week! Happy Weekend!

Look, Mama! I'm an elephant!
"Look, Mama! I'm an elephant!"

A few links for your weekend:

: : I finished the Beyond Puerperium baby cardigan a few days ago. It's a simple pattern, but not dreadfully boring...a good combo, me thinks. I did the first one in a sport weight, and I've cast on for another in a fingering weight. Photos to come...eventually. (Here's a free version of the same cardi. It has fewer sizes and yarn options.)

: : Popsicle sticks and velcro are on tomorrow's shopping list. I'm convinced that this will keep Levi busy for hours!

: : This doll and her sweet clothes. Oh. my. Love!

: : If I can stop knitting baby clothes for a few minutes, then these might just make their way into this year's Easter baskets.

Happy weekend!
Other than buying popsicle sticks and velcro, I'll be conquering the mountain of laundry (that I've already been working on for two days!), catching up on Downton Abbey, and, of course, knitting. How about you? Any fabulous (or not so much) weekend plans up your sleeve?

Weekend Loves

The daffodils have already started blooming, and I even saw irises on the side of the road. Oh. my. What a warm winter we have had!

Onto the links...

: : Lately, I've been loving the blog, Posie Gets Cozy. This little sweater was what got me hooked.  And, this cake sealed the deal.

: : Speaking of cakes...the star topper for this one is too cute!

: :  For Valentine's Day morning this easy, yummy breakfast is in order.

: : We have lots of mismatched chairs. I've toyed with the idea of painting them different colors, but I'm really liking this color scheme

: : I want to make this sweet, soft baby book

So, what have you been looking at this week?

Good stuff...

: : Downton Abbey is back! I'm a total sucker for Masterpiece Theater, and they haven't disappointed with this one.

: : This whole flickr stream of dolls is killin' me with its cuteness!

: : Two retro valentines here and here.

: : Love this article.

: : I decided on the Owlie Sleep Sack. It's knitting up nicely.

Happy Weekend!

Weekend Loves

The bump is a growin', y'all. That's about all that's happening over here. So, onto some lovely links...

: : Did you know you can order a view master and customized reels with your own photos?! Squeal.

: : I can't wait for Sophia's hair to be long enough to justify making these button hair ties.

: : Simplicity Parenting is now one of my top ten five favorite parenting books. Really, I wish I had read it pre-parenting. It opened my eyes to so much about myself, and it has me simplifying more than just my children's lives.

: : We're thinking about getting a small table and chairs for the little ones, and of course, I would want the set I can't have. At nearly $200 a chair these are way pricey, but they sure are lovely.

: : I haven't picked up my knitting needles since I got pregnant. I'm starting to feel the itch though. Maybe I should start with these.

What loveliness have you run across lately?

The photo is from a trip to the Science museum that we took weeks ago. It makes me smile every time I see it.

And, now for some links

: : Stickman fun. You're welcome. :)

: : I want this for supper.

: : I like this playhouse a lot.

: : This sweater is lovely.

Have an awesome weekend!

Weekend Loves

Is it Friday already? Not that I'm complaining, but it doesn't seem like it's been a whole week since the last one. I still haven't gone through the pumpkin photos. Shame on me, but here's another instagram one...

Alrighty then, on to some links...

: : Awhile back I did the whole shampoo free thing (no this doesn't mean I quit showering or cleaning my hair). Anyway, I loved it for months and then not so much. I went back to shampoo which I still didn't love. Then I read this article. I'm back to being 'poo-less, and I like it. Yay! I think I was using too much vinegar before.

: : Levi has been collecting pine cones lately. I'm thinking wreaths.

: :  Small scale marble painting looks like fun...doable fun.

: : All For The Boys is cool....I'm especially digging the diy's like this plane and this stethoscope.

: : Soup...It's that time of the year.

Happy Weekend, Y'all!

P.S. Levi woke up in a very cheerful mood this morning. I think he's feeling much better after yesterday's yellow jacket incident.

Weekend Loves

Sophia has been walking a little bit here and there for awhile now, but over the past week she's really started to take off. I'm bordering between excited and afraid.

Now, onto some lovely links...

: : John Holt's Growing Without Schooling magazine is archived here! Finding that out was the highlight of my week. I remember sitting in my parents' old living room flicking through the issues way back when. Good stuff.

: : Levi and I could easily become addicted to these apple chips.

: : The Purl Bee's latest knitted owl pattern is too cute.

: : Speaking of knitting, someone in this big, wide world sat around knitting barnacles, and just knowing that makes me happy.

: : Did you know that you can make your own glitter? I did not, but now I do. And, you do too. (Although, I have my suspicions about whether or not that photo is actually homemade glitter. Call me a skeptic.)

: : Levi is wavering between being a dinosaur or a dragon for Halloween. I'm currently inspired by this, this, this, and this.

: : Sweet Fia is going as an owl. I'm thinking this hat in pink and purple with an altered onesie.

Happy Weekend, Y'all!

A few fun and lovely things...

: : Fabric sun prints?!! Oh. my. stars. Why aren't there more hours in the day? I'm definitely doing this with the kids when they're a bit older.

: : Since winter is on it's way, how about sewing up some heat packs...filled with corn? It's supposed to stay warm longer than other natural fillers. I need to test this theory.

: :  Cardboard weaving has my wheels turning.

: : This kindling would be fun to make with Levi, and would smell heavenly. Now we just need to get our fireplace fixed.

: : Speaking of things that would be fun to make with Levi...a tinker toy Christmas tree. You know you want to make one too!

So, what fabulousness have you happened upon this week?

Toothbrushin' birthday girl.
In an effort to keep up with Levi she brushes her 6 teeth twice a day.

A few fabulous links...

: : Stephan, are you reading? I want one of these....in pale blue. M'kay?

: : For a few years now, I've been debating about what kind of Advent calendar to make. The inspiration list has been narrowed down to these. Number 1 and Number 4 are especially lovely.

: : This has made my mornings simpler lately.

: : Some cute printable lacing cards.

: : Ten great ideas for those days (or months) when you feel too tired to play with your kids.

: : In previous years we've just painted our pumpkins. I'm not sure I'm ready for knife wielding and seed scooping this year, buuuuut if I was, I'd do this.

Happened upon any good links lately?

Levi and my mom feeding Apollo. Taken this past weekend.

Lovely links....

: : Check out the Dear Photograph blog.

: : Halloween costume for Fi? Of course, I'd try to DIY it minus the puffiness. I don't imagine that much pouf is comfy.

: : After making her crown, I spotted this one. Love it.

: : I want this sofa.

: : I'm nearly done with The Dirty Life. Really good.

Got any good links to share?

It was kind of a rough day. Stephan was gone, and my refrigerator died....rather dramatically....which stressed me out. But, those two smiling faces and my awesome mom got me through. Life is good. Now, on with the links....

: : A happy lunch bag.

: : A cool lawn game.

Weekend Loves

 Just another Rocky Springs photo.

Here are few lovely links for your weekend....

: : I want to make these pancakes and this Starbucks' knockoff for breakfast soon. Of course, I'll have to make them dairy free, but that's not so hard.

: : Since I've been on a chalkboard kick lately, why not a chalkboard play cake?

: : Love, love, loving this little diy dress up station. (found via Pinterest)

: :: : Levi has asked me to knit him a blue jacket. He was pretty insistent on the jacket part. I'm hoping a cardigan will suffice. I'm considering one of these...

Some good links for your weekend enjoyment:

: : The story of these twins might just make you get all teary eyed.

: : This video of artist, Augustina Woodgate, spreading the joy of poetry makes me smile.

: : I really, really want an outdoor chalkboard for the munchkins.

: : I'm fascinated with every article I read on making natural dyes. I'm just scared too try it with little ones around. I really must put us all in junky clothes some day and bite the bullet.

: : Levi is totally into Jenga (except ours is a thrifted set called Timber). Me thinks he'd dig this backyard set.

Happy Weekend!

A few good things for your weekend...

: : My brother-in-law, Dennis, turned me on to the Sideshow Alley music project. Cool would be an understatement for this one.

: : This water birth is so sweet and peaceful. Watching it might have made me cry. Found via my friend, Amanda's Facebook page.

: : Another Facebook friend posted a link to this parenting article...good stuff.

: : I found this 20-minute Almond Berry Sorbet via Pinterest, so for supper last night I tried a version of it. I tossed in some frozen mixed berries, a little maple syrup, and a handful of spinach (to make myself feel better about the fact that I was eating sorbet for supper...what can I say? It was just me and Fi, and sometimes I'm lazy). It was so good. I'm going to try it out on Levi when he gets back from his dad's.

: : Also, I found this DIY train party on Ohdeedoh. (Thanks, once again, to Pinterest). Check out the fruit train. Cute and healthy!

: : Are you on Pinterest? Because if you are you should friend me, and then we could pin together. It'll be fun. I promise. I'm BarefootMama. :)
