Today I'm linking up with Ginny at Small Things for her lovely Yarn Along.
This will make the umpteen billionth time I've unraveled this cowl and begun again. **Sigh** First I hemmed and hawed over what pattern to use, and I started and stopped and piddled about. Then, when I settled on a pattern, I got quite a ways through and figured out I didn't like how large it was going to be. I almost left it, but then....deep breath....I pulled the needles out and decided on some adjustments. So, here we go. Maybe this time will be the charm....or maybe I'll pull it out yet again and turn it into this.
Now onto the book...I've just finished The Quotidian Mysteries: Laundry, Liturgy, and Women's Work. My attitude about housework is in dire need of an adjustment, so I'm reading about it (you know...instead of actually doing it). The book was good but not what I would call a must read. There were some wonderful elements, but overall I thought it was scattered and a bit unfinished which I guess is fitting considering the subject at hand. Any good books suggestions for a rather impractical keeper of the home?
I hope the cowl goes better this time :) The book you're reading sounds interesting...I'll have to check it out!
ReplyDeletei try to think of housework as my 'service' to my family. i am a terribly unorganized, uninterested housekeeper myself, but this perspective seems to help. i have been a lot better lately as i do laundry and think of how i am performing service instead of a chore! lol.
ReplyDeletegood luck with the project, i hope you don't have to tear it out again!

Beautiful yarn color and I also love the basket. I have been trying to work more on my messes. Seems like every flat surface has a pile on it. I did tackle the clean sheets that have been in the laundry basket waiting to be folded and put in the linen closet.(for months.) Just trying to remember to do all things as unto the Lord.....
ReplyDeleteI hope you do not have to start it again! The color is lovely and I like the sheen to it.
ReplyDeletepulling out is so hard but I've had too many projects that have not been used because they weren't right. I've finally managed to learn the art of frogging and breathing :)

I'm no better with keeping the housework done. There are so many other things tugging at my attention! Let me know if you find a good book.
