Instagram Beach Trip Pics

We got back from our beach vacation a few days ago, and we are still living out of our luggage and the baskets of laundry that have been washed but not put away. Needless to say I haven't gotten around to pulling the photos off of my camera, but I have a few favorites from my phone that I wanted to share.

The beach was fabulous. Even more so since my parents came along...

Thiswas the hideout for my mom and Lillian...

Sophia thought it was the funniest thing in the world to pretend to drink the water...

Untitled

Of course, she had to find something to climb...

And, then there are three pictures of three of my favorite people in the whole world...

It was an excellent trip with the best of company. And, as soon as we got home we had more awesome company. My mother-in-law flew in with her husband for a quick visit, and my brother and sister-in-law are here for a week...their first time back in a few years! My children are going to be super disappointed when all of this fun ends. Thus far, they believe that they are still on vacation. :)

Some Making

Of course, there's been some making going on. It keeps me sane and gives me something to do when the to do list is just too enormous. I suppose the logical thing would be to tackle the to do list, but I admit that I am entirely guilty of sitting down to knit instead.  It's a comfort to the soul...especially when combined with baby snuggling...

And, then there's the sewing. Every once in a blue moon I get a wild hair to sew clothes for the littles. This set is destined for Sophia's closet. We've still got some warm days left, so she'll get some use out of it. Plus, I made it with a little growing room, so she can wear it next year too.

And, then there's this...

A Waldorf doll in progress.

Eep. I'm totally thrilled about it, but now I also understand why they charge so blooming much for these things. It's not that they are terrifically difficult to make. They're just super time consuming. It's a fun project, though...which is good because I have two little girls, so another doll is in my future.

*The purple knitted bit is a sweater (pattern here) and the pink is a hat (pattern here)
I used this McCall's pattern for Sophia's new outfit
And, for the Waldorf doll I've used a combination of tutorials for the head (inspiration here), and I made my own pattern for the body.

Ten Weeks

These days I blink and whole weeks are gone.

9 weeks...

And, now 10...

So far Lillian is the easiest baby ever. She cries when her diaper is wet. That is all. She sleeps. She nurses. She smiles. She is lovely, and she makes our lives just that much more so.

Of course, keeping up with three is waaaaaay more challenging than two, but it is getting easier as the weeks wear on. I guess that's the one benefit of the whole blink...blink...gone phenomenon. It  creates a blur out of the hard parts so they don't seem quite so bad once they're over. Hmmm....probably the same mechanism that is at work in our heads when we forget the really painful parts of birth and decide to do it again...and again...and again. Amnesia seems to be common amongst mamas. Maybe that's why we take so many pictures. ;)

Speaking of (totally off topic) pictures. These two crack me up.

It was a case of monkey see, monkey do...

We're approaching a whirlwind season around here...an upcoming trip, lots of visits from relatives, a couple more birthdays, and all of the holidays. Oh, and then there's Lillian's yet to be planned baptism and us moving in a few months. Whoah. To be honest, if I think too hard about it I feel a bit of heart clenching panic. I'm trying not to get too caught up in the rush of it and to just breath it all in moment by moment. This is, after all, supposed to be fun. And, really, it mostly is....just so long as I stay focused on the present.

Party Time

My parents threw a little family party for Sophia. There were "balloons" of course...

Untitled

And pink cupcakes...

Untitled

And a surprise visit from Aunt Annie...

Untitled

Sophia turned two last Saturday, but obviously we didn't bother reflecting that in the number of candles. The more the merrier. Right?

We ended up with a bit of a Madeline theme in presents. My mom found an adorable dress and sweater set with the Madeline character embroidered on them.

Untitled

And, we bought her a Madeline book.

Untitled

And, here's proof that Stephan, Lillian, and I were also in attendance. :)

Sheesh! My babies are all growing like weeds.

Two

Two years ago at this time I was snuggling in for the night with a brand new baby.

Untitled

And, today that baby is a vivacious two year old girl.

Untitled

While Lillian was napping we made cupcakes and had a little unofficial party. We have a family party planned for next weekend, but who can resist the excuse for more cupcakes?

Happy birthday, sweet Sophia!
